Session 1

99 Things but the batch isn't one

Speaker: Martin Croft

Summary: Manchester’s August SQL user group was inspirational it seems, there was a TSQL feature shown that was actually a new SQL 2016 feature but either it was said incorrectly or I misheard that it was a 2012 feature, I was how did I not know that! how could I not know that? That’s when I decided my next presentation (this one) would be on things I learn around SQL from that user group till now.

Why not make it challenging? 99 new things, how hard can that be? The presentation will show exactly that, and my adventure covering a lot of clever stuff (I hope), Touching on SQL, productivity tools, amazingly useful websites, emailing Pinal Dave and trying to get on Brent Ozar Podcast

Hopefully there will be something for everyone and hopefully, I'll get to 99.

About Martin: Martin Croft is a time served SQL developer / DBA contractor / consultant who has worked with SQL Server since SQL 6.5 all the way through to SQL 2016, having attending the user groups for many years he wanted to (try) and give something back for all the things he's have picked up from the sessions he’s seen and share things hopefully people find useful.

Session 2

Installing SQL Server with Powershell

Speaker: Martin Bell

Summary: Inspired by Matthew's talk at the September User Group I've put together a talk based on the experiences of using Powershell scripting to install and customize a SQL Server installation and the myriad of ways to do achieve a consistent repeatable process. Hopefully will take you to the next level of using Powershell and plenty to learn especially those who click Next, Next, Next....!!!

About Martin: Martin Bell was a SQL Server MVP for many years until he stepped out of the fast lane and onto his bike. Although older and greyer he is still strikingly handsome, modest and side splittingly funny; his one man show about his failed attempts to join the Chippendales has never made it to the Fringe.
